Prince Harry has "crushed the hopes" of those anticipating his return to the Royal Family, a PR expert has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex, who relocated to America four years ago, has hinted at plans to permanently reside in the US. This is evident from his change of formal residential status from the UK to the US in paperwork related to his sustainable travel initiative, Travalyst.

Previously, Harry had expressed intentions to return to the UK, but PR expert Ryan McCormick believes this is now unlikely.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, he said: "Harry renouncing his British residency in favour of the US effectively crushes the hopes of anyone expecting the prodigal son to return."

McCormick added: "Psychologically, it must be hard on those who view Harry as a symbol of Britain itself being of origin from the Royal Family."

He suggested that while Harry may currently feel comfortable in the US, the reception of his upcoming Netflix project could alter this. The Duke of Sussex is set to release a new show with the streaming giant centred around polo. The series promises "unprecedented access to the world of professional polo" and aims to "pull the curtain back on the grit and passion of the sport".

McCormick, a PR expert from Goldman McCormick PR, offered his insights to The Mirror on Prince Harry's current standing in the US. He said: "For now, Harry may feel welcome in the US. However, that could change if his upcoming projects aren't successful or his popularity wanes."

Netflix has already started hyping Harry's new polo show. It told Deadline: "Known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, the series will pull the curtain back on the grit and passion of the sport, capturing players and all it takes to compete at the highest level."

The forthcoming polo-themed show, involving Prince Harry, is set to be produced by Boardwalk Pictures, known for their acclaimed series such as Chef's Table and Pepsi, Where's My Jet?

Taking the reins as showrunner for this eagerly anticipated series is Milos Balac, whose credits include the documentary Welcome to Wrexham.
